Meet the Team

Robert R. Montagne, Managing Partner Bobby Montagne has contributed to the urban renaissance of Washington, DC by creating award winning mixed-use projects. He created Walnut Street in 1999 as an entrepreneurial development company with a commitment to work with communities and create destination projects. Prior to establishing WSD, he developed Sunrise Assisted Living properties and helped the company go public. He also worked at the Resolution Trust Corporation after the S&L crisis to help dispose of billions of dollars of real estate assets.  He holds an MBA from Virginia Tech and a BS in Economics from George Mason University.

Mark A. Schacknies, Managing Partner  Mark is responsible for acquisitions, finance, construction and sales at Walnut Street.  He has developed more than 800 residences throughout the DC area.  Previously he worked for Federal Capital Partners, a local real estate private equity firm.  He holds an MBA in Real Estate and Urban Development from George Washington University and a BS in Finance from George Mason University.
